Top Denim Trends in Spring Summer 2023

Based on what we have seen during the latest fashion shows, denim is truly hot. Slouchy, low-rise, distressed: all of this is going to be very much in fashion during the upcoming year. In this article we will take a closer look at the top denim trends of spring-summer 2023.

Low-Rise Jeans are Coming Back

With the rise of Y2K fashion, all of its aspects are becoming trends. Such as low-rise jeans, for example. The only big difference is that the fit of the low-rise denim is quite different: no skinny jeans and no crop. The longer – the better, the wider – the trendier. Low-rise jeans in spring-summer 2023 are going to be styled in a true Y2K manner: with an exposed midriff. Who knows, maybe lower back tattoos are also going to make a comeback?

We love low-rise jeans from Reformation, the OG Y2K trendsetter brand Blumarine and Diesel.

Denim Corsets – the New Trend of SS23 Season

While corsets have been in fashion for the past 3 years, corsets in denim are a relatively new trend. In spring/summer 2023 fashionistas will rock denim bustiers and corsets of denim made with boning. For the upcoming season even the most iconic fashion houses like Mugler and Jean Paul Gaultier, that are famous for designing lingerie and shapewear, have come out with their own versions of this item in jean fabric.

Denim Skirts: Mini, Midi, Maxi

When we’re talking about denim, we don’t mean only jeans and jackets. Let’s not forget about skirts. Mini, midi, maxi – they are all going to be trendy in the spring/summer 2023 season.
When we think of the latest revival of denim skirts in circa 2014 during the spike of the Tumblr era we remember a lot of references to the 90-s fashion with mini skirts that were buttoned up in the middle.
Now the style has changed. We see more of the 70’s and 00’s silhouettes, more straight fits and extreme minis.
Our favourite pieces that perfectly fit jeans trends 2023 are the mermaid skirt from Levi’s x Naomi Osaka collaboration and a classic midi skirt from the Row.

Jeans with Rhinestones: the Ultimate Y2K Denim

The fashion of 2000’s has made a major comeback. And a big part of it is a lot of bling! It can be crystals, it can be rhinestones, it can be glitter: anything that will make your jeans shine in the crowd is a win.
Remember, how 20 years ago celebrities used to show up to red carpet events in their favourite pair of jeans? Well, now it can be a little more appropriate, and denim trends 2023 really allow us to do that.

Our favourite pairs of jeans with rhinestones include ones made by Dolce&Gabbana, Stella McCartney and Karl Lagerfeld.

Wide-leg jeans

Wide-leg jeans are a good example of a slow trend. It was born around 2 years ago and is still growing. It definitely contributed to the look of the most trendy denim of spring/summer 2023 – slouchy baggy long-leg jeans. The only major thing that might have changed is the dropped waist.

Denim & Flowers

“Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking!”, Miranda Priestly once said. Well, it actually is pretty new, if the flowers are in denim. Silk printed, embroidered, embellished, appliquéd, – there are so many ways to master the floral print. Since heavily decorated jeans are super trendy in spring-summer 2023 season, florals are no exception.

We picked two great example of denim with flowers that we really like, – the Etro jeans with a floral print and a Marni denim jacket with furry flower elbow patches.

Denim Footwear: Denim Air Jordan 1, Denim Birkenstocks

Trendy shoes in a trendy fabric? We’ll take two!
With more and more iconic shoes, such as Air Jordan 1, Air Force 1 and Birkenstock Arizona, coming out in denim, it’s never been so easy to style a full-denim outfit.

Are skinny jeans coming back in 2023?

Skinny jeans have never gone out of fashion. They were just used as everyday, practical clothing piece. However we see them coming back in the fashion segment with low rise, blink blink and destroyed.
